Overview

For the age group 5.5 to 13 years, Montessori education—moves from the Casa dei Bambini (Children’s House) to the Elementary Montessori level. This phase covers the Second Plane of Development (6–12 years) and the beginning of the Third Plane (12–18 years), where children shift from concrete to abstract thinking, moral development, and cosmic education.

Montessori activities in this stage emphasize intellectual exploration, imagination, interdependence, and moral reasoning. Here's how it's structured:

Core Characteristics of This Stage

  1. Strong reasoning mind and imagination
  2. Desire for social interaction and group work
  3. Interest in morality, justice, and fairness
  4. Curiosity about the universe and their place in it
  5. Shift from individual to collaborative learning
